Clifford Haight a son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Haight, St. Patrick St., recently killed in action overseas. The young soldier was born in Lindsay and attended Lindsay schools. He was a member of Queen St. United Church.
In Memory of Pte. Clifford Haight Who Was Killed on Active Service In Italy
During the morning service at Queen Street Church yesterday, a memorial prayer was offered up in memory of Pte. Clifford Haight, who was Killed in action in Italy on May 23rd 1944 and on behalf of the bereaved. This prayer was followed by the singing of the hymn of commemoration. "O Valiant Hearts". A mixed quartette also sang a memorial number. "Some Day He'll Make It Plain". The Minister preached from the text. Phillipians 2:30. pointing out that the Christian Life is a spiritual Crusade in which we are challenged to live daringly, sacrificially and dangerously.
Clifford Haight, 28, is killed in action
Lindsay, June 7—Clifford Haight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Haight, St. Patrick St., Lindsay, has been killed in action in Italy on May 23.
Word of his death was received by his parents over the weekend. Clifford Haight, who was in his 29th year, joined the forces in the spring of 1942. He received most of his training in England. He was a graduate of the Lindsay Collegiate Institute and a member of Queen Street United church.
A brother-in-law, Ralph Dolin of Peterboro, also in the army, was wounded a short time ago.

In honour of late Clifford Haight,
killed overseas—Five from Church have paid Supreme Sacrifice
Five stars appear on the Honour Roll of Queen St. Church, signifying that five young soldiers from the church have paid the supreme sacrifice in the present war. Two from the church are now prisoners-of-war.
On Sunday morning the service took on the form of a memorial for Clifford Haight, Pilot Officer, killed in action. The minister, Rev. H.C. Wolfraim, BA. offered a memorial prayer and in his sermon on "Hazarding One's Life".
Appropriate music was rendered by the choir and the entire service was quite impressive.
